India’s leading drone delivery firm, Skye Air partnered with Flipkart Health to deliver medicines in Kolkata & Sub-urbs

 

Enabling India’s first warehouse to OTC medicine delivery on India’s 75th Independence Day

Leading drone delivery firm, Skye Air Mobility partnered with Flipkart Health, a pharma business division of Flipkart Internet (India’s leading ecommerce platform), to deliver medicines by drone. The collaboration kicked off with the launch of BVLOS flights from Flipkart Health warehouse in Baruipur, West Bengal to multiple Health Buddy OTC locations within Kolkata & Sub-urbs.

This initiative shall witness up to 20 (twenty) flights every day, each carrying a payload up to 5 kgs of medicines to be delivered from the Warehouse to 10 (ten) Health Buddy OTC locations very widespread in the region. The maximum distance to be covered by the flight will be 16 Kms aerial (24 kms by road). The trials will continue till 8th September 2022.

Skye Air shall be using its most reliable UAV, Skye Ship One, to facilitate real-time deliveries ensuring optimal flight safety and throughout temperature monitoring. The company shall also be using Artemis, to deliver medicines in far-reach areas thus creating an inter-city/district model for Flipkart Health.

With the ongoing BVLOS trials, we anticipate to gather more data on route, flight, cost-economic viability in order to develop models for commercial flights to begin in the next few months."

It has been proven that Drone Delivery can reduce more than 50% carbon emission for the similar km/kg payload delivery via conventional trucks.”
